Email my agent — Help Center

Email your agent from any device, route to projects, and receive signed replies with deliverable download links.

What is Email my agent?

Email my agent lets you work with your PrecisionDocs agent from your normal email client.

When you send a message:

  1. PrecisionDocs verifies your identity (login email + DMARC).
  2. The message is routed to the right project or intake flow.
  3. The agent runs the same tool-backed analysis as project chat.
  4. You receive a branded reply signed by your configured agent name.
  5. The answer is mirrored into project chat for your team.

If the agent generates a report, map export, or other deliverable, the reply email includes download buttons for those files (same links as chat).

Email is best for quick field questions, forwarding client notes, and replying from mobile. General intake can also create a new project, but it may ask follow-up questions first so the setup matches the New Project wizard.

Use project chat when you need live streaming, document selection, or map interaction.

How does PrecisionDocs route an inbound email to the right project?

Routing priority (first match wins):

  1. Project inbox address — copy from Project Home → Agent inbox (shown only inside your signed-in project).
  2. Reply thread — replying to a prior agent email keeps context on that project.
  3. [PDOCS:{short_id}] in the subject — use when testing before DNS or when forwarding through a generic intake address.
  4. General intake — email agent@precisiondocs.ai (or your workspace forward target) when you want the agent to create a project or ask which project to use.

Tips:

  • Put the site address or project name in the subject for create/routing flows.
  • If general intake needs a parcel choice, project goal, ordinance decision, GIS source confirmation, supplemental source choice, or duplicate-parcel approval, reply in the same thread.
  • Attach PDFs the same way you would in chat; supported attachments are ingested into the project.
  • For a specific existing project, prefer the copied inbox address or a reply thread over a generic forward.

What are the requirements for Email my agent to work?

All of the following must be true:

RequirementWhy
Email my agent ON in Account → EmailsOpt-in gate
From matches your PrecisionDocs login emailPrevents spoofing
DMARC passes on the sending domainAnti-abuse / deliverability
Active workspace with member accessSame gate as the web app
Credits or usage allowance availableSee billing FAQ below

If any check fails, you receive a helpful rejection email when possible (signup instructions, enable-in-profile, inactive workspace, insufficient credits, or usage limit). DMARC failures are rejected silently to prevent abuse.

Do emails use credits or usage allowance?

Yes. Email agent runs use the same billing model as project chat.

Credit-model workspaces:

  • Q&A on an existing project requires at least a small available credit balance before the agent runs (screening floor).
  • Create project by email reserves bootstrap credits up front, same as the New Project wizard.
  • Email-originated usage appears in recent activity with an Email label when available.
  • If you are out of credits, the reply explains how to Add credits (owners) or contact your workspace owner.

Legacy license / token workspaces:

  • Daily message limits still apply.
  • Included usage must be available; otherwise you may get a usage-limit reply or license guidance.

Overage (when enabled) counts toward the same workspace pool as chat — email is not a separate meter.

What can Email my agent do vs. project chat?

Email supports the core read + analyze + deliverable workflow:

  • Parcel and government data lookups
  • Ordinance and document search with citations
  • Feasibility screening and report generation
  • GIS layer exports and many downloadable deliverables

For safety, some tools are disabled on the email surface, including URL ingestion, live ordinance scraping, site-plan editing, document completion, and research sub-agents.

Use project chat when you need to:

  • Ingest documents from a URL mid-conversation
  • Run guided workflows with chip prompts
  • Edit concept layouts or complete documents interactively
  • Select specific documents before asking a question

I emailed my agent but got no reply — what should I check?

Work through this checklist:

  1. Profile opt-in — Account → Emails → Email my agent is ON.
  2. Same sender — you emailed from your PrecisionDocs login address.
  3. Workspace active — you can sign in and open projects in the app.
  4. Credits / usage — Account → Usage shows remaining capacity; add credits if blocked.
  5. Project access — you are a member of the project inbox you emailed.
  6. Routing — for an existing project, use the copied Agent inbox or reply in-thread; include [PDOCS:…] in the subject if forwarding through a generic address.
  7. Spam folder — replies come from PrecisionDocs via transactional email.

If you received a rejection email, follow its CTA (sign up, enable profile, billing, etc.).

For persistent issues, contact info@precisiondocs.ai with the From address, subject, approximate send time, and project name.
